I’ve worked in Art Education for nearly 30 years in academic and museum settings. Regardless of a student’s age level, my primary goal is to call out inherent curiosity and creativity. I focus on a student’s ideas because personal experience and values are fodder for creativity. Technical skills follow idea development. Working with me, students learn to make art, but also to communicate. They improve their ability to reach out.
In particular, I help many students develop art portfolios that engage their technical skills with purpose. Especially for high school seniors applying to college, an accomplished portfolio demonstrates both ability and potential.
